Srinagar, April 12: Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar organized a cross-country run for students of Grades 5 and 6 on Friday, April 10, under the theme “Sustainable Tomorrow – Go Green.” The event aimed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and environmental awareness among young participants.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the run commenced at Duck Park and proceeded along the foreshore road before concluding at Nishat. The students were guided by teachers and sports instructors, demonstrating significant enthusiasm and resolve throughout the activity. The event concluded at Nishat Garden with a ceremony where participants received medals and certificates, followed by refreshments.

In a concurrent initiative, the school’s Learning Resource Centre (LRC) conducted a separate morning run from Duck Park to Eco Park on the same day. Students from the LRC showcased strong sportsmanship and perseverance, with winners being recognized in a departmental ceremony. These combined events underscore the school’s commitment to fostering holistic development, inclusivity, and environmental consciousness.

Principal Ms. Shafaq Afshan highlighted the educational philosophy of DPS Srinagar, stating, “At Delhi Public School Srinagar, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Initiatives like the ‘Sustainable Tomorrow’ run are vital; they not only build physical endurance and discipline but also instil a profound sense of responsibility towards our environment in these young minds.”

Chairman Mr. Vijay Dhar commended the successful organization of the event. “Sports and outdoor activities are foundational to shaping a child’s character. I am immensely proud of the students for their enthusiastic participation. Such events are crucial for developing the confidence, resilience, and overall development that we strive to nurture in every student,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of these activities for student development.
