Prime Video has announced that the second season of its global spy thriller ‘Citadel,’ starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, will premiere on May 6.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the upcoming season will see Mason Kane, portrayed by Madden, and Nadia Sinh, played by Chopra Jonas, reuniting with their mentor Bernard Orlick, brought to life by Stanley Tucci. The trio were once elite operatives of Citadel, a clandestine agency that was dismantled in the first season by Manticore, a powerful and ruthless criminal organization.
The synopsis for the new season indicates that a formidable new threat will emerge, compelling Kane, Sinh, and Orlick to return to action. They are tasked with assembling a diverse team of skilled operatives for a worldwide mission aimed at thwarting a conspiracy with potentially transformative implications for humanity. The official description hints at high stakes, featuring intense action sequences, unexpected betrayals, and a wider array of enigmatic agents, leaving the loyalty of every character in question.
The returning cast also includes Lesley Manville and Ashleigh Cummings. New additions to the ensemble cast for ‘Citadel 2’ are Jack Reynor, who will play Hutch; Matt Berry, as Franke Sharpe; and Lina El Arabi, portraying Celine. Further bolstering the cast are Merle Dandridge, Gabriel Leone, and Rayna Vallandingham, adding new layers to the unfolding narrative.
‘Citadel’ is a production of Amazon MGM Studios and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO. The executive producers for AGBO include Anthony Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes. David Weil is serving as the showrunner, director, and executive producer for the series. Joe Russo and Greg Yaitanes are also involved as directors and executive producers, contributing to the creative direction of the show.
The first season of ‘Citadel’ made its debut on April 28, 2023, introducing the intricate world of espionage and the personal journeys of its central characters. The series aims to deliver a global spectacle with a focus on sophisticated storytelling and high-octane action.
