The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, announced the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Class 10 results for the academic year 2026 on May 20, revealing an overall pass percentage of 94.31%. The results were declared at 9:30 AM via a press conference, with students able to access their mark sheets on official websites.
Students Can Access Provisional Marksheets Online
Information was available with The Chenab Times that students can check and download their provisional mark sheets from the official websites, including tnresults.nic.in, dge.tn.gov.in, digilocker.gov.in, and the UMANG app. To access their results, students are required to enter their registration number and date of birth. The link for downloading the provisional mark sheets is expected to be activated on May 22, 2026, while original mark sheets will be distributed through their respective schools.
This year, a total of 8,70,643 students appeared for the Class 10 examinations, with 8,21,105 successfully clearing the board exams. The examinations were conducted from March 11 to April 6, 2026. The overall pass percentage marks an improvement from the previous year’s 93.80%.
Girls Outperform Boys in SSLC Results
Girls have once again demonstrated superior academic performance, with a pass percentage of 96.47%, significantly higher than the 92.15% achieved by boys. This gender gap in performance has been a consistent trend in recent years.
The subject-wise performance data indicates that English saw the highest pass percentage at 99.44%, followed closely by Tamil at 98.43%. Science recorded the highest number of centums with 10,476 students achieving full marks, while Social Science and Mathematics also saw a substantial number of centums. The Directorate of Government Examinations also released detailed statistics regarding school-category-wise, district-wise, and gender-wise performance.
Pudukottai District Secures Top Position
Among the districts, Pudukottai emerged as the topper with an impressive pass percentage of 97.57%. Sivaganga district secured the second position with 97.54%, followed by Thanjavur at 97.41%, Tiruchirappalli at 97.31%, and Kanniyakumari at 97.30%.
In a notable achievement, 5,171 schools across the state recorded a 100% pass rate, with an additional 8,233 schools achieving pass percentages above 95%. Government schools registered an overall pass percentage of 91.86%, while private schools achieved a pass rate of 98.14%.
Supplementary Exams and Revaluation Process
For students who did not meet the passing criteria, supplementary examinations are scheduled to be conducted from July 8 to July 15, 2026. Applications for these supplementary exams will be accepted between May 26 and June 9. Furthermore, students who wish to apply for revaluation or retotalling of their answer scripts can do so between June 17 and June 19, 2026. Applications for obtaining scanned copies of the answer sheets will be accepted from May 22 to May 27.
The Directorate of Government Examinations had previously released the Tamil Nadu Class 11 (HSC+1) results, which are also available on the same official portals. The SSLC examinations, a crucial milestone for students in Tamil Nadu, have concluded, and the results are now available for scrutiny.
