Jammu-Haridwar Special Train Approved for Somvati Amavasya

The request for the special train was formally forwarded to the Railway Minister on June 3, 2026, by Dr. Jitendra Singh. The representation, initially submitted by Shri Prem Nath Dogra, State Executive Member and In-Charge of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Jammu and Kashmir, sought the introduction of a special train from Jammu to Haridwar on June 14 and its return journey from Haridwar to Jammu on June 15. This timing would allow pilgrims to observe Somvati Amavasya in the holy city of Haridwar.

The Minister highlighted that the acceptance of this demand demonstrates a responsive approach to public requirements. He specifically thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for his positive response to the request for the special service, noting it as a significant development for the region’s pilgrims.
