The recovered substance was identified as crushed cannabis powder, weighing a substantial 28.968 kilograms. Following the discovery, police arrested Mohammad Iqbal Bhat, a resident of the same village, Pashpora Keegam, who is alleged to be involved in the storage and distribution of the contraband. A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Shopian.
