According to the police investigation, the accident took place around 11:15 am when the complainant was ferrying her daughter to school on a two-wheeler from Punawale to Kivale. It is alleged that the speeding PMPML bus attempted to overtake another vehicle on the service road. During the manoeuvre, the bus allegedly struck the two-wheeler, causing the mother and daughter to lose balance. The girl fell off the scooter and was run over by the rear wheels of the bus, resulting in fatal injuries. Her mother sustained injuries in the incident.

Investigation Underway

Sub Inspector Anil Tarfe, the investigating officer, stated that initial findings suggest the bus was travelling at a high speed and potentially on the wrong side of the road while attempting to overtake. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead upon arrival. The PMPML bus was reportedly carrying school students at the time of the accident. The incident has once again brought to the forefront concerns regarding the driving practices of some PMPML bus drivers.
