Srinagar, August 27: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered the transfer and posting of 14 police officers, including significant reshuffles at the Inspector General (IG) level, with immediate effect.
The Chenab Times has learned that the orders, issued by the Home Department, reflect a broad administrative rearrangement within the Union Territory’s police force. The transfers encompass various ranks, from Additional Director General (ADG) down to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
Among the key postings, M.K. Sinha, an IPS officer from the 1996 batch, has been moved from his role as ADG HQ to ADG CID J&K, replacing Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar, also an IPS officer (1999 batch), has been subsequently posted as ADG Armed Police J&K.
In a significant reshuffling of zonal command, Sujit Kumar, an IPS officer of the 2007 batch, has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Kashmir Zone. He was previously serving as IG Security J&K. Tejinder Singh, another IPS officer from the 2008 batch, who was IG CID J&K, will now take over as IG Jammu Zone, a position previously held by Bhim Sen Tuti.
Bhim Sen Tuti, an IPS officer from the 2004 batch and formerly IG Jammu Zone, has been transferred and posted as IG HQ, J&K. Vivek Gupta, IGP Railways J&K, has been moved to IGP Security J&K, succeeding Sujit Kumar.
Uttam Chand, an IPS officer (2002 batch), has been transferred from his position at Police Headquarters as IGP (Police Operations & Services) to IGP Railways, J&K. He will continue to hold the additional charge of IGP (Police Operations & Services) at the Police Headquarters.
Shakti Kumar Pathak, an IPS officer from the 2009 batch, has been designated as the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Mubassir Latifi Ameer, an IPS officer of the 2011 batch, who held the dual charge of DIG (Personnel) and DIG Training at the Police Headquarters, has been transferred and posted as DIG IR Kashmir.
At the Superintendent of Police level, Sahil Sarangal, an IPS officer from the 2017 batch and previously SSP Handwara, will now serve as SSP Pulwama. His previous role in Handwara will be filled by Tahir Saleem Khan, a JKPS officer from the 2001 batch, who was serving as SO to IG Kashmir Zone.
Sunny Gupta, an IPS officer from the 2020 batch and previously Addl SP Anantnag, has been appointed as SSP Kishtwar, replacing Naresh Singh. Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, a JKPS officer from the 2004 batch, who was SSP SCW Kashmir, will now be the SO to IG Kashmir Zone. Naresh Singh, a JKPS officer (2004 batch) and former SSP Kishtwar, has been transferred and posted as SSP Rajouri.
These transfers and postings, approved by the Lieutenant Governor, aim to bring in fresh administrative impetus and ensure efficient functioning of the police department across the Union Territory.
