A family of five, including a couple and their three young children, were discovered deceased in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida on Saturday morning, authorities stated. The preliminary assessment by police suggests that the deaths may be a result of food poisoning.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the family, identified as Mahesh (37), his wife Lalita (35), their daughter Mishti (7), and sons Laddu (11) and Sakshat (3), were found unresponsive at their residence in Nagla Shri Padam village, under the jurisdiction of Rabupura police station.
According to local residents and the deceased’s mother, the family had consumed noodles for their evening meal the preceding night. This detail has become a focal point in the ongoing investigation.
Following the discovery, forensic experts and a team from the Food Safety Department were dispatched to the scene. Their objective was to meticulously collect evidence and samples, particularly from the food items consumed by the family, to ascertain the cause of death.
Police have commenced inquest proceedings to formally document the incident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations to provide definitive medical findings. Authorities have indicated that further legal actions will be determined based on the comprehensive results of the post-mortem reports and the forensic analyses.
Dhirendra Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA representing Jewar constituency, visited the site of the tragedy. He confirmed that he has informed the Chief Minister’s Office about the distressing event.
Mr. Singh elaborated on the investigative focus, stating, “Particular attention is being paid to determining whether any toxic substance was present in the food consumed by the family or whether the deaths occurred due to some other reasons. The exact cause of the deaths can be confirmed only after the post-mortem reports are received.”
He further expressed the gravity of the situation, remarking, “The untimely death of five members of a family, including three children, in such circumstances is deeply painful and heart-wrenching. The police, administration and food department teams are engaged in the investigation.”
The legislator stressed the need for thoroughness in the inquiry, adding, “I expect every aspect of the incident to be investigated impartially. It should be clarified at the earliest what exactly led to the tragic loss of an entire family.”
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting a swift response from district administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the unfortunate deaths.
