Search Operations Underway for Missing Individuals

Superintendent of Police (SP) Dehra, Sandeep Dhawal, stated that Surinder Kumar has since been traced, and the body of Ramesh Chand Sharma was recovered from the Beas river. Search operations are currently ongoing for Ranjana Kumari and Shashi Kapoor. These efforts involve the deployment of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and a dog squad to assist in locating the missing individuals.

Challenges in Tracing Vulnerable Individuals

SP Dhawal highlighted that a significant challenge in tracing some of the missing persons stems from their reported memory-related problems. Compounding these difficulties, several individuals were not carrying mobile phones, which considerably hampered immediate location efforts by the authorities. This situation underscores the need for enhanced preventative measures and community vigilance.

Recommendations for Caregivers and Families

In light of these incidents, the police have issued an appeal to families and caregivers to maintain heightened vigilance over elderly members and individuals with cognitive impairments. Recommendations include equipping such persons with mobile phones or GPS-enabled tracking devices. The implementation of such measures can significantly aid in their timely location in case of an emergency, thereby mitigating risks and ensuring their safety.

The police department stressed the importance of proactive care and surveillance for vulnerable populations. The involvement of community members and the adoption of simple technological aids can play a crucial role in preventing potential tragedies and ensuring the well-being of those most at risk. The ongoing search operations continue with the hope of a swift and safe resolution for the two remaining missing individuals.
