Srinagar, October 27—Newly inducted Jammu and Kashmir minister Mir Saifullah stated on Tuesday that his primary focus would be on addressing public grievances, fulfilling people’s aspirations, and accelerating development across all sectors. He expressed gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting him with a ministerial position.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Saifullah made these remarks following his oath-taking ceremony as a minister in the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He described his induction into the cabinet as the culmination of a long-held ambition.
“I am very happy that I have become a minister today. It was a long-standing aspiration of mine, and I have received the ministry I deserved,” Saifullah said. He conveyed his thanks to Allah and the party leadership for the opportunity, pledging to work diligently to uphold the trust placed in him.
“My leadership trusted me and placed its faith in me. Now, I will try to live up to that trust, work for the prosperity and development of Jammu and Kashmir, and strengthen the party,” he stated.
When questioned about his anticipated portfolio, Saifullah indicated that the specific assignment had not yet been communicated to him. He affirmed his readiness to undertake any responsibility allocated by the Chief Minister. “It is up to the Honourable Chief Minister to decide which portfolio he wants to give me. Whatever he assigns to me, I will work on it,” he said.
Addressing the expectations of the public and the imperative to resolve their concerns, Saifullah highlighted that addressing public issues was a key objective behind the recent cabinet expansion. “That is precisely why the cabinet expansion has taken place. If people have grievances or are facing difficulties, the purpose of this expansion is to resolve their problems and help them,” he explained. He added that the government would strive to operate in alignment with the needs and aspirations of the populace. “Inshallah, we will try to work according to people’s aspirations and needs,” Saifullah commented.
He emphasized the critical need to expedite development throughout Jammu and Kashmir, noting that every sector requires focused attention. “Development in Jammu and Kashmir is very important. We need development in every respect and in every sector. Inshallah, I will be at the forefront of these efforts,” he asserted. Saifullah declined to comment on reports of internal party dissent concerning the cabinet reshuffle, stating, “I will not say anything on this matter.”
