Doda Police Arrests Absconder Evading Arrest for 19 Years

Doda, January 14 – Doda Police have apprehended a long-time fugitive, Asif Ali, who had been evading arrest for over 19 years, officials confirmed on Sunday. Ali, son of Mohd Shafi and a resident of Bimna Colony, Srinagar, currently residing in Bandipura, Kashmir, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 203/2004 registered under Sections 279 and 337 of the RPC at Police Station Doda.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta, the accused was declared an absconder by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Doda on September 13, 2005, following a non-bailable warrant issued under Section 299 CrPC. Despite repeated attempts over the years, Ali managed to elude authorities.

Acting on specific intelligence and under the direct supervision of SSP Mehta, a special police team from PS Doda was formed. The team, led by Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khnday, utilized both human and technical intelligence to trace and apprehend Ali from the Bandipura area. After his arrest, Ali was transported to Doda, where he was produced before the court of law.

This operation is part of an intensified crackdown by Doda Police targeting absconders and hardened criminals. In the past two months alone, nine fugitives have been arrested and brought to justice.

“The success of this operation underscores the commitment of Doda Police to ensure the rule of law and bring absconders to justice,” SSP Mehta said in a statement. Further investigations are ongoing.
