KISHTWAR, March 10 – Authorities in Kishtwar intensified traffic enforcement efforts on Monday inspecting over 100 vehicles and seizing two for operating without valid permits, officials said.
The crackdown, led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Tasleem Wani, along with Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Rakesh and their team, was conducted at two checkpoints along the Drabshala-Salana and Thathri-Bunjwah routes.
Officials issued 22 e-challans for various violations, including overloading, disconnected speed-limiting devices, absence of fare lists, and overcharging. The fines imposed are expected to total Rs 2,01,200.
“The enforcement drive aims to ensure road safety and compliance with transport regulations,” an official statement said.
Authorities urged vehicle operators to adhere to traffic laws to avoid penalties and improve passenger safety. The administration has vowed to continue such measures to enhance road discipline and prevent accidents in the region.
