Mandi, March 31: A Tata mobile vehicle met with an accident late Monday evening in Nedian, a tourist destination in Mandi Tehsil of Poonch district, resulting in the death of a child and injuries to six others, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as 12-year-old Mohammad Tofiq, son of Mohammad Mushtaq, a resident of Ghagarian village. The injured include the vehicle’s driver and five children, all of whom were rushed to Sub-District Hospital Mandi for medical assistance.
According to hospital authorities, the driver and four of the injured children were later referred to Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital in Poonch for advanced treatment. Their condition remains under medical supervision.
The injured have been identified as 14-year-old Dawood, son of Mohammad Ashraf; 26-year-old Mohammad Rafeeq, son of Abdul Ahad, who was driving the vehicle; 12-year-old Mohammad Hafiz, son of Mohammad Shabir; 10-year-old Farzan Ahmed, son of Shabir Ahmed; 5-year-old Irfan Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ibrahim; and 18-year-old Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Mohammad Abriam. All are residents of Ghagarian.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.
