Doda, April 24 — The body of a 30-year-old man was recovered under mysterious circumstances from a water reservoir in Puneja village of Tehsil Chiralla, District Doda, early Thursday morning, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar, son of Phulail Singh, a resident of Puneja. Kumar was reportedly employed in a private role at the Radio Station in Bhaderwah.
Authorities were alerted to the incident by local sources at approximately 9:00 a.m. A team from Police Post Karrara responded promptly, joined shortly thereafter by Station House Officer (SHO) Thathri, Sandeep Parihar, who is overseeing the investigation.
Inquest proceedings have been initiated, and forensic specialists are expected to play a role in determining the cause of death. Police have not ruled out the possibility of foul play, though no official conclusions have been drawn at this stage.
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) visited the site. The body was subsequently shifted to Community Health Centre (CHC) Thathri for medico-legal formalities.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with a large number of residents gathering at the scene during the preliminary investigation.
Authorities said further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
