Two Dead, One Injured as Load Carrier Overturns Near Daksum

Kishtwar, May 9: Two persons were killed and one injured when a three-wheeled load carrier met with an accident near Daksum on Friday while traveling from Kishtwar to Anantnag.

Official sources told The Chenab Times that the deceased have been identified as Mudassir Ahmad Zargar, son of Mohammad Shafi Zargar, and Asif Ahmad Rah, son of Bashir Ahmad Rah, both residents of Batamaloo, Srinagar.

The injured, Aqib Sheikh, is receiving treatment at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kokernag, where his condition is reported to be stable.

Visuals from the accident site show the vehicle—a blue cargo auto—badly mangled, indicating the severity of the crash. It is suspected that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle on a steep curve, although official confirmation is awaited.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families after completion of legal formalities.
