SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha convened a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar on Thursday, bringing together senior officials from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, civil administration, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and key intelligence agencies.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the meeting also focused on logistics and safety preparations for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, particularly in light of recent inclement weather and heavy rainfall experienced across the region.
During the review, Lieutenant Governor Sinha emphasized the critical need for seamless coordination among all concerned departments and agencies. He directed them to prioritize the safety, well-being, and convenience of pilgrims undertaking the annual spiritual journey to the Amarnath cave shrine.
The discussions specifically delved into enhancing inter-agency coordination between security forces and civil administration. The objective is to ensure that all necessary arrangements are robustly in place to facilitate the smooth and secure conduct of the yatra, even amidst challenging weather conditions that have historically posed difficulties for the pilgrimage.
The annual Amarnath Yatra, a significant religious event for Hindus, involves pilgrims trekking to the cave shrine located in the Himalayas in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
