SRINAGAR: A residential house in Barnate village of Boniyar, Baramulla district, north Kashmir, collapsed following days of heavy rainfall, officials reported on Sunday. The incident, which occurred during the intervening night, did not result in any casualties.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the house, owned by Noor Din of Barnate, caved in reportedly due to the continuous downpour that weakened its structure over time. Twelve members of the family were inside the dwelling when it collapsed.
Officials confirmed that all occupants were safely evacuated and moved to a secure location before the structure gave way. There were no reported injuries among the family members.
Following the incident, revenue and district administration officials visited the site to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the damage. The family is understood to have incurred significant property losses.
Authorities stated that the assessment process is ongoing. Relief will be provided to the affected family in accordance with established government norms and guidelines. The collapse serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities of structures in regions prone to inclement weather conditions.
