Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, convened a meeting on Sunday to address and resolve outstanding issues concerning the ambitious Medicity project. The meeting, held in Srinagar, focused on crucial aspects like land demarcation and ensuring the necessary right of way for the project’s smooth execution.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that senior officials from various key departments were present. These included Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, representatives from the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA), the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department, SIDCO, the Industries & Commerce Department, and the project coordinator, Sajad Nazir Shah. The discussions aimed to streamline the process and overcome hurdles impeding the project’s progress.
During the deliberations, detailed attention was given to the demarcation of land specifically allocated for the Medicity project. A significant point of discussion was the 15-metre Right of Way (ROW), including the buffer zone, situated between the new Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court complex and the Medicity site. Ensuring adequate access is critical for the operational effectiveness of the healthcare hub.
Taking note of the concerns raised by the attending departments and the executing agency, the Divisional Commissioner issued directives for a joint site inspection. This inspection is intended to facilitate a comprehensive understanding and expedite the resolution of the land demarcation issues. The objective is to ensure that the boundaries are clearly defined and legally sound.
Furthermore, Mr. Garg emphasized the imperative of involving revenue officers from the relevant departments in the demarcation process. This inclusion is vital to guarantee that the land is precisely demarcated in strict adherence to the approved plan established in 2021. Accurate land records and clear boundaries are fundamental for preventing future disputes and ensuring orderly development.
The Divisional Commissioner also underscored the necessity of securing the requisite right of way for the Medicity project. This measure is deemed essential for the unhindered and timely implementation of the project, preventing any further impediments that could lead to delays or increased costs. Smooth accessibility is a prerequisite for the success of large-scale infrastructure projects like Medicity.
The Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, assured full support from the district administration to facilitate the prompt resolution of the identified issues. His commitment highlighted the collaborative approach being adopted to expedite the project’s advancement.
Earlier in the meeting, the project coordinator provided the Divisional Commissioner with a detailed overview of the approved plan for Medicity and the specifics pertaining to the right of way. This presentation set the context for the subsequent discussions and directives.
