Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called for regular interfaith dialogue and increased youth and community involvement in initiatives aimed at fostering social harmony, emphasizing that dialogue is fundamental to building trust and achieving peace. The appeal was made during a Mulaqat programme organised by the Save Youth Save Future Foundation in Pulwama.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Sinha highlighted the importance of people from diverse faiths and societal backgrounds coming together to discuss issues, foster understanding, and bridge social divides. He stated that diversity is a significant national strength, and mutual trust and respect are crucial for preserving the country’s shared heritage. The Lieutenant Governor invoked the concepts of Kashmiriyat and the civilisational ethos of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ underscoring India’s historical openness to different faiths, cultures, and traditions while stressing that humanity and conduct should remain central to social identity.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the efforts of young volunteers working against drug abuse and promoting brotherhood, advocating for the expansion of such initiatives across the Union Territory. He outlined a six-point roadmap that includes institutionalizing regular interfaith dialogues in educational institutions and community centers. This roadmap also proposes the establishment of Youth Peace Ambassadors to spearhead cultural exchange, community service, and environmental protection efforts.
Furthermore, Sinha stressed the necessity of preserving historical and cultural sites as common heritage, promoting digital literacy, and actively countering misinformation. He articulated that it is a shared responsibility of the public and the administration to equip the youth with an education that encourages critical thinking, provide access to technology that fosters progress, and cultivate character that inspires patriotism and nation-building.
The administration’s commitment to equitable development was further emphasized as Sinha called for equal opportunities in education, employment, healthcare, and justice. He also proposed the formation of Village Peace Committees to ensure representation from all societal sections.
“Governments can establish laws and administrations can provide systems, but true harmony is built by the people themselves,” Sinha remarked, urging officials to prioritize citizens’ safety, ensure equal development opportunities, and facilitate the effective implementation of welfare schemes.
Later in the day, the Lieutenant Governor flagged off a Tiranga Yatra from the Sports Stadium in Pulwama, acknowledging the residents’ enthusiastic participation in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and other national integration programs.
