Officials from Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad, convened a meeting with representatives of approximately 15 madrasas in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir to elaborate on the university’s equivalency system and the admission opportunities it presents.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the interaction took place at Darul Hadith Salafiya, Imamabad, Ramban. The MANUU delegation, which included Sub-Regional Director Dr. Abdul Ghani, Dr. Bilal Makhdoomi, and Section Officer Sudhir from the Regional Office, engaged in detailed discussions with the management of the local madrasas.
During the deliberations, the MANUU officials provided a comprehensive overview of the procedures, eligibility criteria, necessary documentation, and other formalities required for the recognition and equivalency of madrasa qualifications under the university’s established norms.
The university representatives informed the attending madrasa managements that institutions seeking equivalency must adhere to specific conditions. These include operating under a properly constituted and registered body, maintaining records of their curriculum and teaching methodologies, and implementing a transparent examination system. Additional prescribed requirements also need to be met.
The meeting further explored MANUU’s distance education programs, which offer eligible students pathways to pursue higher education while continuing their current academic or teaching engagements. The university supports its students through a network of study centers located in various regions.
The MANUU team also emphasized the availability of higher education programs delivered through the Urdu medium. This initiative aims to create opportunities for students with a madrasa educational background to advance their studies across a range of disciplines.
Representatives from the madrasas actively sought clarification from the MANUU officials regarding the intricacies of the equivalency process and its associated requirements. The university delegation provided detailed explanations of the prescribed procedures and formalities, encouraging the institutions to diligently follow the outlined norms when submitting their applications for the equivalency facility.
