Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir: The higher altitudes across Kashmir experienced the season’s first snowfall on Saturday, marking a significant shift in weather patterns, while plains witnessed brief showers accompanied by hailstorms in some areas.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the mountainous regions including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Gumri recorded the initial snowfall of the current season. This precipitation brings a stark contrast to the usual weather experienced in these picturesque locations during this time of year.
The officials reported that parts of Srinagar city and its surrounding districts received rainfall early in the morning and again in the afternoon. This rainfall led to a noticeable drop in the day’s maximum temperatures, bringing a much-needed respite from the lingering warmth. In some parts of the city, residents also reported experiencing hailstorms and strong, gusty winds, adding to the unusual weather event.
The India Meteorological Department (MeT) has forecast a possibility of brief showers on Sunday.
