Reflecting on his tenure, Air Chief Marshal Singh described serving as the chief of the IAF as his “biggest fortune,” expressing it as a profoundly proud moment as his superannuation approached on October 31. The Air Force Day event featured a ceremonial parade and an impressive display of the IAF’s advanced combat assets, including fighter jets like the Rafale, Su-30 MKI, and Jaguar, alongside helicopters such as the LCH Prachand and ALH Dhruv, as well as crucial weapon and air defence systems. These assets were showcased on static display on the tarmac.

The celebrations were attended by the three Service Chiefs, other senior military officials, and several former chiefs of the IAF. The Air Chief Marshal arrived at the parade venue in a vintage 1960s-era car, accompanied by a flypast of three helicopters in a ‘Dhwaj’ formation, a symbolic gesture acknowledging the IAF’s rich history and continued evolution.

In his address, the Air Force Chief emphasized the IAF’s continuous pursuit of modernization and technological advancement to maintain its edge in a rapidly evolving global security landscape. He spoke about the integration of new technologies and platforms that enhance the force’s interoperability and combat effectiveness across multiple domains, including air, space, and cyber. The emphasis on a network-centric approach ensures seamless communication and data sharing among different assets and platforms, crucial for conducting complex operations efficiently.

The evolution of the IAF from its inception to its current status as a formidable global air power was a recurring theme. The Air Chief Marshal detailed the strategic imperatives driving the force’s development, including indigenous manufacturing capabilities, strategic partnerships, and the continuous training and skill enhancement of its personnel. He highlighted the importance of human capital, recognizing the dedication and expertise of the air warriors as the bedrock of the IAF’s strength and resilience.

The ceremony also provided an opportunity to showcase the IAF’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, demonstrating its multi-faceted role beyond combat missions. The display of various aircraft and defense systems illustrated the breadth of capabilities the IAF possesses, from strategic deterrence to tactical support and rapid response. The event served as a powerful reminder of the IAF’s unwavering commitment to national security and its readiness to protect India’s sovereignty and interests in all contingencies.
