Anthony Ippolito underwent a significant physical and vocal transformation to embody Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming film “I Play Rocky.” The actor shared the rigorous process involved not only mastering Stallone’s distinctive voice but also developing a more muscular physique, a departure from his naturally slender frame.
The Chenab Times has learned that Ippolito spoke about the challenges and rewards of his role at the AFI Fest screening of “I Play Rocky.” He described the experience as demanding, stating, “It had its moments for sure. I was being tested.” The film delves into the making of “Rocky,” the iconic 1976 film that launched Stallone’s career and became a cultural phenomenon.
Ippolito’s portrayal aims to capture the essence of Stallone during a pivotal moment in his career, focusing on the immense effort and personal sacrifice that went into bringing the character of Rocky Balboa to life. The production required Ippolito to not only mimic Stallone’s mannerisms and speech but also to undergo a substantial physical metamorphosis, including building significant muscle mass to replicate Stallone’s athletic build for the role.
Beyond the physical demands, Ippolito also navigated the complexities of acting alongside a canine co-star. He recounted a particular challenge with the dog actor, noting with a touch of humor, “He wasn’t a huge fan of me.” This detail offers a glimpse into the on-set dynamics and the unpredictable nature of working with animals, adding another layer to the behind-the-scenes narrative of “I Play Rocky.”
The film is anticipated to offer audiences a new perspective on the creation of a cinematic classic, highlighting the dedication and transformative journey of the individuals involved.
