According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samana, Fateh Singh Brar, the motive behind the crime appears to stem from a personal dispute involving one of the accused. Brar stated that Nawab Khan, the deceased, was allegedly harassing a woman who was the sister of one of the arrested individuals, Sehajveer Singh. Despite repeated requests from Sehajveer Singh for Khan to cease his actions, the harassment reportedly continued.

The victim, identified as Nawab Khan, a resident of Dakala village in Patiala district, was on his motorcycle on Friday afternoon. At approximately 1:30 PM, an SUV allegedly intentionally collided with his motorcycle near a petrol pump on the Patiala-Sangrur road. CCTV footage circulating online appears to show the SUV travelling on the wrong side of the road when it struck Khan’s motorcycle head-on.

Following the collision, the occupants of the SUV are reported to have forcibly taken Khan into their vehicle. A bystander managed to record a video that shows Khan partially hanging out of the speeding Scorpio as it drove towards Sangrur. The recording has since become a crucial piece of evidence in the case.

The body of Nawab Khan was later discovered in Kalajhar village, located within the Sangrur district. An initial post-mortem examination revealed that the victim had sustained multiple fatal injuries inflicted by sharp-edged weapons.

Earlier in the investigation, police had explored the possibility that Nawab Khan might have been involved in blackmailing a relative of the accused. A case related to the incident was registered at the Pasiana police station, and a thorough investigation was initiated to uncover all details surrounding the crime.

The Patiala police’s rapid action in arresting the suspects has been acknowledged, bringing a measure of closure to the incident that had caused distress and raised security concerns in the region.
