JKSA raises alert for Kashmiri students in wake of ‘Kashmir Files’

In the wake of what they called “disturbing visuals” (video clips) emerging from different movie theatres openly calling for hate against a “particular community,” the J&K Students Association issued a statement in anticipation of the likely fallout being the targeting of students from another “particular community.”

In a statement National Spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami said that, we would like to clarify that in case of any “unprovoked attempt of hate, physical, verbal abuse” aimed at students from Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir India & as had happened post unfortunate terrorist attack at Pulwama, the onus will be on director of that “particular movie” besides and alongwith the promoter (s) and enabler(s) of such criminal activities; if any (including social media handles/accounts) read the statement issued on social media.

He said that, we humbly requests all concerned citizens to spread message of peace, disown unfortunate attempts of propagation of hate and at large, ensure safety & security of students from JKUT India studying in mainland nation. Pertinent to mention that students from JKUT are ambitious Indian citizens (born after 1990) pursuing different courses in mainland & have nothing to do (covertly or overtly) with “unfortunate exodus” of a particular community. These students have defined career goals which are aimed to contribute towards nation building at large, he added.

Khuehami said that, this statement has been put out taking due consideration & “serious note” of distress calls received from students of JKUT. Further, association unequivocally condemned the attempts of distrust & discord that social media has witnessed post release of the “particular movie”. The movie as per the statement issued, has promoted hate amongst masses which otherwise were peacefully coexisting nurturing the idea of what JKSA termed “unity in diversity” and “sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas” as propounded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

J&K Students Association also requested students across board to maintain harmony & peace between themselves & exhibit maximum restraint (if provoked) besides immediately report such incidents to nearest police stations and immediate heads of departments/institutions. It concluded the statement with hope for safety, security, stability of all the students & wished them best of luck for their future endeavors.
