J&K: DEO Doda Meets Political Parties; Discusses Rationalisation of Polling Booths

Today, District Election Officer Doda Vikas Sharma convened a meeting with representatives of various political parties and discussed the rationalisation of polling stations.

While addressing them, the DEO said that polling stations are a vital part of the electoral process, which should be created keeping in view of the convenience of the voters and must include all essential facilities. Besides, he informed The Chenab Times that there are 451 existing and newly proposed polling stations.

The DEO asked all political parties to go through the proposed draught which will be provided to them by the election office, which includes total electorates, areas falling in and around the polling station, and record comments/rectification if required for smooth, fair, and transparent elections. Any new proposal that falls within the norms will be considered and approved.

Apart from this, the DEO also asked the Dy DEO to put across all the BLO’s to work efficiently and in a fair and transparent manner. Besides, DEO also apprised the political representatives about the ensuing special summary revision of the electoral rolls, which will give an opportunity to the new eligible voters to get themselves enrolled as the last summary revision was done in 2019, he added.

Among others present during the meeting were Dy DEO Akhtar Hussain Qazi, Election Naib Tehsildar Angrez Singh, and other concerned were also present.
