In a shocking revelation this morning, a prominent and legendary poet, Abdul Qayoom Ganai, popularly known as Sagar Sehrai, passed away after a prolonged illness at the age of 70, family sources told The Chenab Times.

Sehrai hails from the Eid Gah area of Bhaderwah in Doda district. He was the uncle of Owais Mansoor, a social activist and AAP leader from Bhaderwah.
Many activists and leaders paid condolences, including Sadaket Malik, the president of the ingenious languages movement, who wrote, “A heart wrenching news for the literary circles. The legend poet and a great human being Sagar Sehrai Sehrai has left us. A respectable soul for us. His loss will create vaccum in literature / Zaban o Adab in erstwhile Doda. An inspiration of the budding posterity. Allah pak gareek i Rehmat ata kare Ameen. We will miss you. “
