Property of LeT Commander attached in Doda’s Phagsoo: Police 

The land property of an absconding LeT commander from the Phagsoo area of Doda district, operating from Pakistan-administered Kashmir, has been attached in execution of court orders, according to Jammu and Kashmir Police.

According to a statement issued by Doda Police to The Chenab Times, the LeT commander was identified as Abdul Rashid alias Jhangir, son of Arsulla Khanday, resident of Khanpura Tehsil Phagsoo, Thathri District Doda.

The statement reads that Abdul Rashid alias Jhangir joined militancy and went to Pakistan in 1993 to get arms training with the intention to carry out subversive activities.

“After getting arms training in POK, he infiltrated and remained active in terror-related activities in District Doda,” it added. “He, along with other dreaded and hardcore terrorists, were found involved in a number of terrorist attacks on civilians and security forces, and other terrorist incidents of arson, blasts, etc. in the region.” 

Apart from that, a number of youths in District Doda were instigated and recruited by him to join militancy in the nineties, it reads.

The statement also reads, “It is notable to mention here that terrorist Mohd Amin alias Khubaib, a resident of Phagsoo Thathri, was also initially motivated and recruited by him to join militancy and is presently a dreaded terrorist operating from POK, where he is in a desperate attempt to trap the Chenab region again in the net of militancy and has been involved in a number of terror-related incidents in the recent past in Jammu region, which include IED blasts, drones, and attempts to transport weapons, etc. to revive militancy in the region. He has also been declared a proclamation offender by the orders of the Hon’ble Court. Presently, both the terrorists Mohd Amin alias Khubaib and Abdul Rashid alias Jhangir, both residents of Phagsoo Thathri, are operating from POK and are alluring the youth of District Doda through various means of social media and virtual modes to join militancy. 

“Absconder Abdul Rashid alias Jhangir was involved in heinous terror-related incidents while he was active in terror-related activities in District Doda, in consequence of which case FIR No. 23/1997 U/S 364, 302, 121 RPC, and 7/27 Indian Arms Act were registered against him at PS Bhaderwah and case FIR No. 64/2009 U/S 03 Explosive Substance Act was registered against him at PS Thathri. He was declared an absconder and subsequently proclaimed an offender by the order of the Hon’ble Court. “His warrant of attachment of property was forwarded by SSP Doda, and consequently, a team was constituted by District Magistrate Doda to execute the court order, and the property of the absconder (land measuring 04 kanals and 212 marlas) situated at village Khanpura, Tehsil Phagsoo (Thathri), was attached by a joint team of Revenue and Police under U/S 83(4) of the CrPC 1973 (the earlier section 88),” it added. 

In place to mention here that Doda Police is in the process of initiating proceedings under Section 82/83 CrPC against other local terrorists who have remained involved in terror-related activities in District Doda during militancy in the past and are currently in POK, wherefrom they are now alluring the local youths of the district through virtual mode or social media to join the terror fold and revive militancy in District Doda.
