4 charged over taped beating of teen who later took own life

A group of four students from Central Regional High School in Bayville, New Jersey, have been charged with assault, conspiracy to commit assault, and harassment after a video of the attack on a 14-year-old student was shared on social media. The young victim, Adriana O. Kuch, was allegedly hit with a water bottle and sustained bruises and wounds, according to her father. Sadly, her body was discovered two days after the attack.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer confirmed that all four juveniles and their guardians were given copies of the complaints and have been released until their court appearances. He also mentioned that the attack was a result of a long-standing feud between the attackers and Adriana.

In response to the incident, students at the high school staged a walkout to show their support for Adriana. However, District Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides issued a letter to parents stating that the walkout had interfered with the learning process and that any future rallies would require approval from the administration.

In an effort to improve the school’s response to future incidents, Prosecutor Billhimer met with Superintendent Parlapanides and discussed ways to enhance staff changes, programming, and services to better support the students’ needs. Adriana was remembered as an animal lover and a young girl who helped children with special needs.
