In a swift and coordinated effort, a joint team comprising the Jammu & Kashmir Police, the Indian Army’s 29 Rashtriya Rifles, and the Special Security Bureau (SSB) successfully detected and defused a suspicious object believed to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Srinagar-Baramulla national highway in the Hanjivera area of Pattan, Baramulla district of North Kashmir.
Officials from the region reported that the security forces, while on a routine patrol, identified the potentially hazardous object, prompting an immediate halt to traffic and the restriction of civilian movement in the vicinity. The discovery raised concerns, considering the volatile security situation in the region.
Responding swiftly to the situation, a highly trained Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was dispatched to the scene. With precision and expertise, the BDS safely disposed of the suspicious object without causing any harm to people or property. This timely action averted what could have been a potentially catastrophic incident.
In the aftermath of this operation, a case has been registered at the local police station under the relevant sections of the law. Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the origins and intentions behind the placement of the IED-like object.
