J&K Prepares to Host 67th National School Games in Football, Volleyball, Judo, Fencing

In a significant development for the sports fraternity, the Director of Youth Services & Sports in Jammu & Kashmir convened a preliminary meeting to discuss the hosting of the 67th National School Games. The event, which is set to feature competitions in Football, Volleyball, Judo, and Fencing, is poised to draw participants from across the nation.

The meeting, held on Wednesday, brought together key stakeholders, including the Joint Director of Kashmir, Waseem Raja, District Youth Services & Sports Officers, and section in-charges from various divisions of the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports (YSS).

One of the primary outcomes of the meeting was the commitment to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made well in advance to ensure the seamless and successful execution of these prestigious sporting events.

Under the umbrella of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), the Department of Youth Services and Sports is set to host four national-level competitions. Specifically, Srinagar will play host to the Football tournament for under 19 Boys and the Volleyball competition for under 17 Boys.

Meanwhile, the cities of Jammu will see action in the Judo category for under 14 Boys and Girls, as well as in Fencing for under 19 Boys and Girls. These events are scheduled as per the calendar of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).

Anticipation is building as teams from all 44 SGFI affiliated units, representing various states, union territories, and organizations from across the country, are expected to participate in each discipline. The Department of Youth Services and Sports in Jammu & Kashmir is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations.

“The Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K has geared up its manpower and machinery for the successful conduct of the event. Around 4000 participants from across the country are going to participate in these events,” stated the Director of Youth Services & Sports.
