SRINAGAR: Altaf Bukhari, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP), has accused regional political parties in Kashmir of maintaining ambiguous stances towards both the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the INDIA bloc.
The Chenab Times has learned that Bukhari made these remarks during a public address, suggesting that these parties are strategically positioning themselves to benefit regardless of the national election outcomes. He implied that their approach is driven by self-interest rather than a commitment to the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir.
Bukhari specifically criticized the leadership of parties like the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party, alleging they have a history of aligning with whichever national coalition is in power to secure their political and personal interests. He suggested this ‘hedging’ strategy allows them to remain relevant and influential in local politics while avoiding direct accountability on national issues.
The JKAP chief emphasized that his party, in contrast, has always maintained a clear and principled stance, advocating for the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He called for transparency and honesty in political discourse, urging voters to scrutinize the past actions and stated intentions of all political entities operating in the region.
He further stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve political parties that are unequivocally committed to their cause and not those that play a ‘wait and watch’ game with national alliances.
