Body of Missing Army Soldier Recovered, Death Toll in Anantnag Encounter Reaches Five

The body of an army personnel who had been missing since a gunfight erupted in the Gadole area of Anantnag has been recovered, bringing the death toll in the ongoing encounter to five. The operation is currently underway as security forces work tirelessly to neutralize holed-up militants in the region.

According to a report from news agency GNS, the body of the missing soldier was discovered at the encounter site and subsequently transported back. The soldier had been missing in action since the outset of the operation.

On the first day of the gunfight, the tragic loss of lives included an army colonel, a Major, a soldier, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP). The casualties highlight the intensity and complexity of the ongoing operation in the dense forest area of Gadole, which presents challenging terrain for security forces.

A joint team of army and police continues to conduct extensive searches in the forested terrain to locate and neutralize the remaining militants.
