Srinagar, Nov 23 – A joint inspection by the District Registering Authority, led by the Chief Medical Officer of Srinagar, along with the District Health Officer and the Drug Department, uncovered widespread non-compliance with the Clinical Establishment Registration and Regulation (CERR) Act in the city. Several medical establishments and clinics were found operating without proper registration, leading to immediate closures.
The inspection team identified a range of healthcare facilities that violated the Act, including Crestcare Laboratory, located opposite SKIMS JVC Bemina, and Jhelum Valley Chemists and Druggists, which was found housing an unregistered SRL Laboratory. Another facility, the Kids Health Clinic near JVC Bemina, also failed to meet regulatory standards.
Further investigations revealed several other violations in the JVC Bemina area, including the City Clinical Laboratory in Shah Colony, Peace Diagnostic Center, and TCT Clinical Laboratory. Sajad Medicate Chemists and Druggists, which contained an unregistered consultation chamber, along with Atulaya Healthcare Imaging and Laboratories, were also shut down for non-compliance.
In addition to the clinical setups, several medical shops were found to be illegally collecting samples, a practice that raises concerns about adherence to healthcare regulations.
Authorities emphasized the critical need for all medical establishments to follow the Clinical Establishment Registration and Regulation Act and to complete necessary registrations. Failure to comply with these regulations could result in further stringent actions, the authorities warned.
