What is News Balancing for Citizen Journalists

News balancing can understood in few points, but first of all the beginners, we should understand what the CJ news is?

• “CJ News” refers to Citizen Journalism News can be understood in following points, CJ News is written as CJN below:

1. CJN is a greviences report of an area or locality.
2. CJN is social issue report for boosting developmental process in an area or locality.
3. CJN should not be copy pasted, it must be self written on self observation.
4. CJN must have both side version. (See Both Sides Below).
5. CJN is not for publicity or promoting a political party. It is only meant for voice of public.
6. CJN is not the news about accident, press release etc. (In case, Chenab Times editors can ask CJs)
7. CJN is lack of facilities in Hospital, Area, Locality, School, Water etc.

• Both sides(BS):

BS of CJN are the version of both parties. A news according to CJN can be in favour of public and can be against a department. For example, If you area facing “No road connectivity” , you should make a video news in this format:

1.  Party 1 is public and Party 2 is Department.
2. 1-2 person of Party 1 give media byte about the issues, alongwith CJ describe the issue in front of them about the problem faced due to road connectivity.
3. CJ will contact or visit to concerned department’s employees like PMGSY is department for road construction, CJ ask Assistant Executive Engineer or Junior Engineer about the road in a polite way. CJ can mention “Chenab Times” as reference to take the version of that employee. His version may include answers to the questions, like why this road is not being constructed or why work is stopped or Why it is not repaired or anything according to story. In case if the official person not responding after knowing you are from media, then kindly attach the Screenshot of Calls not attended and SMS not replied with the story. So that in story we can write or say that “Officials didn’t responded”.

• Conclusion:

Now you got version of Party 1 and Part 2 also. Whatever for Party 2, the version is “Officials not responded”. It is okay. That is called a balanced story.
