In the ongoing gunfight between forces and militants in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, the brother of one among the hiding militants has been sent inside the Masjid to persuade the militants to come out.
Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said that the efforts are on to save the Masjid during the ongoing operation in South Kashmir’s Shopian gunfight.
Police also said that the operation is still going on while the brother of one among the holed up militants has been sent inside the Masjid to persuade them to come out.
“#ShopianEncounterUpdate: Brother of holed up #terrorist & local Imamsahab sent inside mosque to persuade the #terrorists to come out & #surrender. Efforts are on to save the mosque. #Operation going on. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
Pertinently, police said that three militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight while a top commander affiliated with AGuH (JeM) has been trapped in the area.
The gunfight broke out after a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by police and other forces following specific inputs about presence of militants in the area.
The hiding militants during CASO fired upon the search party, which was retaliated, thus leading to the gunfight in which three militants have been killed so far.
