At Least 15 Dead After 5.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Pakistan, says Report

A 5.7 earthquake hit southern Pakistan in the early hours of Thursday, killing at least 15 people, according to disaster management officials.

“So far, 15 to 20 individuals have been slain. It’s possible that the death toll will rise “The head of Balochistan’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Naseer Nasar, told AFP.

Roofs and walls fell, killing several of the victims, according to Suhail Anwar Hashmi, a top provincial government official.

Among the dead were a woman and six children.

The quake had a magnitude of 5.7 and struck around 3 a.m. at a depth of around 20 kilometres, according to the US Geological Survey (12 miles).

It was felt in Quetta as well as other parts of the province.
