JKBOSE Declares Class 10 Results in Jammu and Kashmir, Pass Percentage at 84%

Over 94,000 students appeared in the annual regular examinations held across the Kashmir division and winter zone areas of the Jammu division, with the board citing syllabus relaxation measures implemented this academic year.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Wednesday announced the results of the annual regular Class 10 examinations, recording an overall pass percentage of 84 percent across the Union Territory.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education said that 84.04 percent of students who appeared in the examinations have qualified.

More than 94,000 students had appeared in the Class 10 annual regular examinations, which commenced on November 3 and were conducted primarily across the Kashmir division. The examinations were held at 994 centres established by the board throughout the region to facilitate the large number of candidates.

Board officials said that of the total candidates enrolled, 68,804 students were from the ten districts of the Kashmir division. In addition, 25,224 students from eight districts of the winter zone areas of the Jammu division were registered to appear in the examinations.

Candidates from the Union Territory of Ladakh were also part of the examination process. Officials stated that at least 660 students from Kargil district and 95 students from Leh district were enrolled for the Class 10 annual regular examinations conducted by the board.

Earlier, the Board of School Education had indicated that nearly 95,000 students were expected to appear in the examinations. To manage the scale of the process, authorities had set up 994 examination centres across the Kashmir region and winter zone areas, ensuring logistical arrangements for students from different geographical locations.

The results come against the backdrop of syllabus relaxation announced by the board earlier this year. The Board of School Education had approved a reduction of 15 percent in the syllabus for students appearing in the Class 10, 11 and 12 annual regular examinations.

In an official notification issued prior to the examinations, the Director Academics of the board stated that the decision was taken following recommendations from the Directorate of School Education Kashmir and the Directorate of School Education Jammu, as well as representations from other stakeholders. The move was aimed at addressing concerns arising from the delayed commencement of the academic session and multiple disruptions to the academic calendar.

The notification cited factors such as prolonged heatwaves, episodes of torrential rainfall, cloudbursts and floods as reasons for the disruption of regular academic activities during the year. As per the approved arrangement, eligible students were required to attempt questions carrying 85 percent of the total marks, which would be treated as equivalent to 100 percent marks, thereby extending the benefit of the 15 percent syllabus relaxation.

The relaxation applied to students appearing in the annual regular 2025 examinations in the Kashmir division, winter zone areas of the Jammu division and the Union Territory of Ladakh. Board officials had said the measure was intended to ensure fairness for students affected by circumstances beyond their control during the academic year.
