Two workers were killed and one injured when a steamer at a juice factory in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir exploded during repair work. The incident occurred on Wednesday night in the Aglar area of the district.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the three workers, identified as Saurabh Singh, Shiv Kumar, and Raj Kumar, were undertaking repairs on the steamer when the blast took place. They sustained injuries in the explosion and were immediately transported to a local hospital.
Saurabh Singh succumbed to his injuries late on Wednesday night. Shiv Kumar passed away on Thursday morning. Raj Kumar, the third worker, is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries.
Officials confirmed that all three injured workers were residents of Uttar Pradesh. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
Shopian district, located in the southern part of the Kashmir Valley, is known for its agricultural produce, including apples, and also hosts various food processing units. Incidents involving industrial machinery, particularly during maintenance or repair, can result in severe accidents if safety protocols are not strictly adhered to.
