New Delhi: The Delhi Police have dismantled a significant counterfeit garment manufacturing racket in the Naraina Industrial Area of west Delhi, seizing over 3,400 fake branded jeans and associated materials. The operation, which took place on May 12, was a result of a complaint regarding the production and distribution of counterfeit products mimicking high-end international brands.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at the Naraina police station. The police obtained search and seizure warrants under Section 96 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and conducted simultaneous raids at four locations within the Naraina Industrial Area. These raids were carried out in the presence of authorized representatives from the complainant companies, who confirmed that the seized items were indeed counterfeit.
During the operation, authorities recovered a substantial quantity of fake jeans. Specific seizures included 780 counterfeit Levi’s jeans, 720 fake Zara jeans, 540 counterfeit Calvin Klein jeans, and 470 imitation Tommy Hilfiger jeans from one of the raided units. Thousands of forged labels, packaging materials, and seven industrial stitching machines, allegedly used in the manufacturing process, were also confiscated across the various locations.
At one of the units, the police apprehended an individual named Rishab Garg, along with 296 counterfeit jeans, fake material, and forged tags. Further raids in the Naraina Ring Road and adjoining industrial areas led to the recovery of an additional 650 counterfeit jeans from units operated by two other individuals.
The investigation is ongoing, with police working to trace the complete supply chain, including distributors and other individuals involved in this illegal trade of counterfeit clothing. This bust is part of a broader effort by Delhi Police to crack down on the proliferation of fake branded goods in the capital.
