Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Hazratbal Dargah on Monday to personally inspect the arrangements made for devotees in anticipation of upcoming festival celebrations.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the administration has endeavoured to put in place comprehensive measures to facilitate a smooth and peaceful observance of the festival, which is often referred to as a festival of brotherhood.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the administration’s commitment to ensuring that the public can celebrate the occasion with happiness and in a serene environment. He stated, “I had come here to see the arrangements so that people can celebrate the festival of brotherhood happily. The administration has tried to make the best arrangements.”

During his visit, officials accompanying the Lieutenant Governor provided detailed briefings on various aspects of the arrangements. These included updates on security protocols, sanitation services, traffic management plans, and the availability of healthcare facilities for the expected influx of devotees at the revered shrine.

Furthermore, Lieutenant Governor Sinha acknowledged the significant role religious leaders are playing in the ongoing “Nasha Mukht J&K Abhiyan,” a campaign aimed at eradicating drug abuse in the Union Territory. He highlighted their crucial contribution in raising awareness among the populace, particularly the youth, and guiding them towards a more positive and productive future.

The review of arrangements at Hazratbal Dargah is a customary practice undertaken by administrative officials prior to major religious festivals to ensure all logistical and security requirements are met. The shrine holds immense religious significance for Muslims in the region and attracts large gatherings, especially during auspicious occasions.

The administration’s focus on multifaceted arrangements underscores its effort to balance religious observances with public safety and convenience. The proactive inspection by the Lieutenant Governor signals a commitment to overseeing critical public service provisions firsthand.

The festival of brotherhood, a key cultural and religious event for the region, necessitates meticulous planning to accommodate a large number of participants. The reviewed arrangements are designed to cover the needs of devotees from arrival to departure, encompassing essential services and security.

The emphasis on the anti-drug campaign also reflects a broader administrative agenda that extends beyond immediate festival arrangements, aiming to address social issues impacting the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
