SRINAGAR: Security forces in Srinagar have finalized a comprehensive security plan to ensure a peaceful and secure observance of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival. The Directorate of Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed that robust arrangements are in place, involving multi-agency coordination and enhanced surveillance across the valley. The plan aims to manage crowds effectively, maintain public order, and preempt any potential security threats during the festive period.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, chaired a high-level meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to meticulously assess the preparedness for both Eid-ul-Adha and the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY). This strategic meeting brought together senior officials from various wings of the police and security forces, including Deputy Inspectors General of Police for IR Kashmir, Central Kashmir Range (CKR) Srinagar, Traffic Kashmir, South Kashmir Range (SKR) Anantnag, Armed Kashmir, all district Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) within the Kashmir Zone, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Special Crime Wing Kashmir, CID SB Kashmir, APCR Kashmir, Telecom Kashmir, and the Commanding Officer of SDRF 1st Bn Kashmir, along with other key personnel.
During the extensive deliberations, district SSPs provided detailed presentations outlining their security preparedness, deployment strategies, traffic regulation protocols, and crucial crowd management measures. These arrangements are specifically tailored for Eid-ul-Adha celebrations and the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra. The IGP underscored the paramount importance of maintaining peace and order during Eid, directing officers to implement stringent crowd management strategies at mosques and major congregation points throughout the valley. Emphasis was placed on regulating entry and exit points, ensuring the safety of the public, and strategically deploying security personnel at all sensitive locations to prevent any form of overcrowding.
Further instructions were issued to field officers to intensify surveillance operations, conduct random checks at vulnerable spots, and enhance regular patrolling activities. These measures are intended to proactively counter any potential security threats that may arise during the festive period. In parallel, preparations for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra were also reviewed, with the IGP stressing the necessity of coordinated planning and robust preparedness, particularly concerning the safety and security of the pilgrims. Officers were directed to strengthen security measures and deploy Anti-Sabotage teams along the Yatra routes to mitigate any potential risks.
The police leadership also highlighted the importance of utilizing advanced technologies and real-time monitoring systems to enhance surveillance and threat detection capabilities. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to both events were also reviewed, with a focus on contingency planning to effectively address any emergencies or unforeseen situations. The collective commitment from all security agencies and stakeholders was reiterated to ensure a secure and seamless experience for residents, pilgrims, and visitors during Eid-ul-Adha and the subsequent pilgrimage.
