Sidhu had previously entered a guilty plea on March 26 to a single charge of engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise. He has been held in federal custody since October 2024, following his extradition from Canada.

According to the terms of his plea agreement, Sidhu was found to have led a drug trafficking organization responsible for smuggling illicit narcotics from the United States into Canada for subsequent distribution. This operation spanned from September 2020 until February 2023.

During a critical period between September 13 and October 24, 2022, Sidhu was instrumental in orchestrating eight separate drug shipments. These shipments collectively comprised approximately 523 kilograms of methamphetamine and 347 kilograms of cocaine, all of which were successfully intercepted by law enforcement agencies. The estimated wholesale value of these seized narcotics ranged between $15 million and $17 million.

The operational model involved Sidhu acquiring bulk quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine within the United States. He then made arrangements for these controlled substances to be transported across the border into Canada, primarily utilizing long-haul semi-trucks as the transport method.

To facilitate identification and secure the illicit cargo during transit and delivery, Sidhu provided specific telephone numbers and serial numbers that were printed on currency bills. These were designated for couriers to use as a form of identification.

Upon arrival in Canada, Sidhu and his accomplices would retrieve the narcotics from predetermined drop-off locations, from where they were to be distributed further within the Canadian market.

Sidhu is the eighth individual to plead guilty in connection with this extensive drug trafficking investigation. Several other co-defendants have already received prison sentences, ranging from 27 months to 108 months, for their involvement.

The investigation into this transnational criminal enterprise was a collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Key participants included the FBI, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles Interagency Metropolitan Police Apprehension Crime Task Force (LA IMPACT), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, United States Customs and Border Protection, and various Mexican law enforcement authorities. The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs played a crucial role, working in concert with Canadian authorities to secure Sidhu’s apprehension and subsequent extradition to the United States in October 2024.
