Bhandari further wrote that the Chief Minister’s absence from the affected area despite the severity of the disaster had disappointed many residents. He said the Chief Minister’s visit would help assess the ground situation while also boosting the morale of those affected by the floods.

The DPAP leader urged the government to announce a special relief package under disaster relief provisions, stating that immediate financial assistance, rehabilitation measures, and the restoration of damaged infrastructure were essential for recovery. He added that a timely response from the government would provide much-needed relief to affected families.

The appeal adds to a series of demands made by political leaders, public representatives, and organisations seeking enhanced relief and rehabilitation measures for Thathri. In recent days, several leaders have called for comprehensive compensation, a scientific assessment of the damage, and long-term disaster mitigation measures in the Chenab region following the flash floods.
