Influential social media personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami, Florida, on Saturday by U.S. Marshals. The arrests were made based on a sealed warrant and an extradition request from the United Kingdom, where the brothers face numerous charges including rape, sex trafficking, and offenses related to indecent images of children.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in the UK announced that Andrew Tate, 39, is being prosecuted on seven counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 additional charges for offenses related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate, 38, faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
These charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. According to the CPS, the latest charging decisions follow the receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police, bringing the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven.
The Tate brothers, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, were previously arrested in Romania in December 2022 on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group. They were held in detention in Romania for nearly three months before being released to house arrest, and later under judicial control measures. All charges and allegations in Romania have been denied by the brothers.
