A Porsche vehicle collided with a divider on Mumbai’s Coastal Road on Sunday morning, resulting in injuries to a minor girl in another car. The incident occurred behind Breach Candy Hospital.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the accident happened around 8:30 am when the Porsche driver, allegedly speeding, lost control of the vehicle. The luxury car first hit the divider and then collided with an Ertiga car that was following behind.
The occupants of the Ertiga were a doctor, his wife, and their minor daughter. The young girl sustained minor injuries and was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment. Her father, who was driving the Ertiga, and mother were also present in the car at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Porsche reportedly escaped unharmed, with the vehicle’s airbags deploying upon impact, preventing serious injuries to him. Following the accident, the Gamdevi police station sent the Porsche driver to the hospital for blood tests. An FIR is expected to be registered against him, and authorities are awaiting the blood test results to determine if he was under the influence of any substance at the time of the crash.
The accident caused temporary traffic congestion on the Coastal Road as the lane was blocked for some time while authorities managed the scene and removed the damaged vehicles. The police are investigating the exact cause of the crash, with initial reports suggesting excessive speed as a contributing factor.
This incident follows a recent occurrence on the Coastal Road where a car caught fire inside a tunnel, causing panic and traffic disruption. While no one was injured in the fire incident, it led to significant traffic snarls. The authorities had to halt traffic and remove the burnt vehicle before reopening the route.
Mumbai’s Coastal Road, an important arterial route, has seen a few traffic incidents in recent months. Officials have reiterated the importance of adhering to speed limits and driving cautiously to prevent such accidents, especially on high-speed stretches.
