Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Chief Engineer, I&FC Department, Kashmir, issued an advisory on Thursday, directing all officers and officials from various departments assigned to flood duty to report to their designated locations without delay. The rising water levels are a direct consequence of ongoing heavy rainfall across the Valley, necessitating a heightened state of preparedness.
The department has also reissued its public advisory, strongly urging residents to exercise extreme caution. Citizens are advised to avoid venturing near rivers, streams, and other water bodies due to the potential for flash floods and increased water flow. The administration is maintaining close surveillance of the situation, with intensified flood preparedness measures being implemented in areas identified as vulnerable to inundation.
