Srinagar, July 23: National Conference leader Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan has voiced strong support for students protesting alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examinations, demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister and compensation for families of students who reportedly died by suicide.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the party’s Additional General Secretary and Member of Parliament, Chowdry Ramzan, expressed solidarity with the protesting youth, stating that the controversy has severely eroded public trust in the nation’s examination system.
Ramzan highlighted the ongoing protest by the ‘CJP’ at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, which has been advocating for justice for students affected by the alleged NEET paper leak for over three weeks. He affirmed the National Conference’s firm backing of their demands and reiterated the party’s call for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to step down, citing moral responsibility for the perceived lapses in the examination process.
Furthermore, Ramzan called for adequate compensation and comprehensive support for the families of students who allegedly took their own lives in the wake of the NEET controversy. He condemned the reported use of force against peaceful demonstrators, deeming the police action unacceptable and seeking stringent action against the personnel allegedly involved in assaulting protestors. Ramzan emphasized that peaceful protest is a fundamental democratic right that should not be met with coercion.
He urged the Union Government to initiate a thorough and transparent investigation into the alleged paper leak, identify all individuals responsible, and implement concrete measures to restore the confidence of students and their parents in the examination framework. The party leader underscored the need for accountability and fairness in the conduct of national-level examinations.
