Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir – Thousands of devotees congregated at the Dargah Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar to observe Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. The revered shrine experienced a massive influx of worshippers offering prayers and seeking blessings throughout the day and into the night.
Shrine Buzzes with Devotional Fervor
The Dargah Hazratbal, a significant spiritual center in Kashmir, became the focal point of religious observance as devotees from across the Valley converged for night-long prayers, recitations of the Quran, and devotional hymns. Special sermons highlighting the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad were delivered, drawing large crowds. As dawn broke, the stream of devotees continued, eager to offer prayers and witness the display of the holy relic, Moi-e-Muqaddas, believed to be a hair from the Prophet’s beard.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the display of the holy relic, which occurred after congregational prayers, evoked profound emotional responses among the worshippers, many of whom were seen raising their hands in supplication and shedding tears of devotion. Chants of ‘Darood and Salaam’ echoed through the shrine premises, creating an atmosphere of intense spiritual engagement.
Extensive Arrangements for Devotees
The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, responsible for the shrine’s management, had made extensive arrangements to facilitate the large gathering. These included provisions for sanitation, drinking water, transportation, and medical facilities. Traffic police also implemented a detailed plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and prevent congestion around the Hazratbal shrine, with designated routes, parking, and return arrangements put in place.
Similar large congregations and Milad processions were reported from other major shrines and mosques across the Kashmir Valley, including those in Anantnag, Sopore, and various other towns. These events also featured religious scholars delivering sermons and participants reciting praises of the Prophet.

Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi is a significant occasion for Muslims worldwide, commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. In Kashmir, the celebrations at Hazratbal hold particular importance due to the presence of the holy relic.
