JAMMU: A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was conducted in Akhnoor, Jammu, to honour Naik Ajay Kumar, a Special Forces commando who tragically lost his life during a training exercise in Haryana.
The Chenab Times has learned that the ceremony took place at Rakh Muthi village in the Akhnoor belt of Jammu district on Friday. Naik Kumar, a resident of Nood, Nai Basti, died during a boat-training drill conducted in the Yamuna river at Hathnikund, Yamunanagar, Haryana.
Senior Army officials, including Brigadier R Shankar, Commander of the Manawar Yoddha Brigade, were present to pay their respects. They laid wreaths at the mortal remains of the fallen soldier, acknowledging his bravery and sacrifice.
Naik Kumar’s mortal remains were transported to his native place in Akhnoor on Friday. Family members, relatives, and local residents gathered in large numbers to bid farewell to the commando, offering tributes to his courage, sacrifice, and dedication to the nation.
The news of the Special Forces commando’s martyrdom has cast a pall of grief over Akhnoor. The local community has joined Naik Kumar’s family in mourning, celebrating his commitment to service.
